The Mikala Sweater is inspired by the graphic knit patterns of the 1990s, but also strongly by the traditional fisherman's cardigan, whose roots go back even further. The Mikala Sweater has a raglan cut and a varied pattern that is easy to knit, as the pattern is only worked in the right-side rows.

Recommended needles
Circular knitting needle 3 and 3.5 mm (40 cm).
Circular knitting needle 4 mm (80 cm).
Circular knitting needle 4.5 mm (40 and 80 cm).
Double-pointed needles 3.5 mm. If you are knitting using the magic loop method, you do not need the double-pointed needles.

Gauge
20 stitches x 28 rows in stockinette stitch on 4.5 mm needles = 10 x 10 cm.
Wash the gauge swatch before measuring it.

Please note: The main colour consists of 1 strand of Tweed and 1 strand of Silk Mohair. The contrasting colour consists of 2 strands of Spinni and 1 strand of Silk Mohair.

Size selection
The Mikala Sweater is designed with a positive ease of 12-18 cm. The jumper shown here has a positive ease of 18 cm. Measure your chest circumference (or the widest part of your upper body) and choose your size based on this measurement. The positive ease is the difference between the finished garment and your measurements.
For example, if your chest measurement is 94 cm, size M will give you a positive ease of 14 cm (108 cm – 94 cm = 14 cm).
*The length is measured at the centre back, excluding the neckband.

Construction
The Mikala Sweater is worked from the top down. The neckline ribbing is worked last. First, the single-colour section is knitted, with the neckline shaped using short rows. First on the sleeves, then on both sides of the front. Raglan increases are worked at the same time as the shortened rows. The yoke is then knitted in rounds with pattern and raglan increases before the body and sleeves are finished separately, i.e. the pattern is only worked in the right-side rows.
